Mrs. Mabel Bowen Nash
SHREVEPORT, LA -- Mrs. Mabel Bowen Nash, 90, went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2003 after a brief illness. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2003 in the chapel of Centuries Funeral Home. Officiating will be Reverend Gary Boswell, pastor of Westview Christian Church. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mrs. Nash, a native of Jackson Parish, resided in Shreveport most of her adult life. Graduating from nurses training at an early age, she entered the U.S. Army as a nurse during WWII along with four brothers. Mrs. Nash was one of the first nurse anesthetists and retired from LSU Medical Center in the early 1970's. She was also a member of the Retired Nurses Association.
Mrs. Nash was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Nash; her parents, Jim and Alma Bowen; her four brothers and one sister.
She is survived by one sister, Maxine Light of Westminster, CA; numerous nieces and nephews and special care givers, her niece, Viki Foley and her cousin, Waylon Branch, both of Shreveport, LA.
