Mrs. Mae Fountain, Former Butler Lady, Dies in Florida

Mrs. Mattie Mae Fountain, 83 years of age, born and reared in this county, died at a rest home in Auburndale, Fla., on March 28. She had been in declining health for some time.

Mrs. Fountain had made her home in Winter Haven, Fla., for a number of years. She lived with her daughter, Mrs. Harrison Fraser. She was the widow of the late Mr. Geo. W. Fountain, who preceded her in death in 1917.

Mrs. Fountain was born May 16, 1875, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Rhodes.

Funeral was conducted at the Ott Funeral Home, Winter Haven, Fla., March 30, 3 p.m. Rev. J. J. Wherry, retired pastor of the First Presbyterian church, Auburndale officiated. Interment was in Bethel cemetery near Butler Saturday afternoon with Rev. Ted Griner officiating at graveside services.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Harrison Fraser, Winter Haven, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. J. L. Royal, Thomaston; Mrs. Bailey Jones, Jacksonville, Fla.; and Mrs. John Chapman, Albany.
