Mae W. Butler

Mae W. Butler, 95, native of Amite County, Mississippi, and longtime resident of Prairieville, La., passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, La.

She was born May 3, 1919, in Amite County, the daughter of Jim Buck Whittington and Myrtis Mae Graves Whittington. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include her daughjer, Carolyn Cernich and her husband Calvin of Prairieville, La. Her Son: James Butler of Prairieville, La. 2 Grandsons: Kevin Cernich and his wife Heather, and Steve Cernich and his wife Lisa. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Fallene Cannon and her husband Trent, Chris Cernich , Chance Cernich, Michael Cernich and Haleigh Cernich. 2 Great-great-grandchildren: Olivia Cannon and Byrce Cannon.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Jim Buck Whittington and Myrtis Graves Whittington, her husband, Howard Butler. 4 brothers: J.B. Whittington, Grady Whittington, Hollis Whittington, and Floyd Whittington. 2 Sisters: Versie Freeman and Bernice Bass. And 1 Grandson, Christopher Cernich.

Visiting is Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, MS., 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 2:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home. Officiated by Rev. Danny Cook. Interment will follow in Mary Springs Cemetery.
