MRS. MAMIE EVANS

NEWTON -- Funeral rites for Mrs. Mamie Evans of Lawrence were held from the Lawrence Baptist Church, where she was a member.

Mrs. Evans, widow of B. H. Evans, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. H. L. Sykes, in New Orleans, La., Mrs. Evans had been there two months. In addition to the daughter, Mrs. Evans leaves another daughter Mrs. J. W. Futrell of Shreveport, La.; two sons, Maloy Evans of Laurel and Oscar A. Evans of New Orleans, La.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; five brothers, Troy Meeks of Lake, Bob Meeks, Forrest Meeks and Delma Meeks, all of Louin; two sisters, Miss Oma Meeks of Louin and Mr[s]. V. M. Roebuck of Lake.

Mrs. Evans was born in Jasper County, Jan. 15, 1894. Her parents were N. H. and Georgia McCarty Meeks.
