Manuel Lawerence (M.L.) McNeil
(January 20, 1931 - January 29, 2014)

Manuel Lawrence (M.L.) McNeil passed away at home and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, January 29, 2014.

M.L. was a lifelong resident of the Antioch community where he was born January 20, 1931, to parents, Oscar McNeil and Bessie Bishop McNeil, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Bay Springs High School in 1948. He attended classes at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, then enlisted in the United States Air Force as an Airman 1st Class (Buck Sergeant) during the Korean War. Among other posts he was stationed at Feamcom Air Force Base in Tachikawa, Japan, for two years, where he performed calibration on the gun sights that went in the fighter jets.

After discharge from the Air Force he taught electronics at Jones County Junior College and worked at NECO in Bay Springs for several years, while completing his education at Mississippi State University. He will be remembered by many students at Bay Springs High School for teaching Electrical Trades for 30 years. He retired from the public school system to be a self-employed poultry farmer until his death.

M.L. is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Beverly Montgomery McNeil; 5 children, Bucky (Karen) McNeil, Louin, MS, Carla (David) Glaze, Ridgeland, MS, Kimberly Curtis, Madison, AL, John McNeil, Bay Springs, MS, Diane (Gary) Ainsworth, Louin, MS; 16 grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Gregory, Holly (Joe Frank) Alexander, and Christian McNeil, all of Louin, MS, Tyler Glaze of Thibodaux, LA, Andrew Glaze and Elizabeth Glaze, Ridgeland, MS, Kenneth Curtis and Audrey Ann Curtis, Madison, AL, Mitchell (Nicole) Harrison and Ashley Harrison, Collins, MS, Ryan McNeil, Stringer, MS, Brandon Nolan and Candace Nolan, Laurel, MS, Ashley Hilbun, Robert Ainsworth and Randall Ainsworth, all of Bay Springs, MS; 2 great grandchildren, Dawson Gregory and Isaac Alexander; very special friends, Kenny Mayo and family, Louin, MS, and a host of extended family and friends for whom he loved and cared deeply.

M.L. was preceded in death by sisters, Annel McNeil and Vermell Goodnight, and brother Oscar McNeil, Jr.

He was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Visitation will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, Louin, MS, Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Bro. Steve Pouncey.

Internment [sic Interment] will be in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.
