Margaret Elaine Oxner Crowell
December 23, 1927 - February 24, 2018

Margaret Elaine Oxner Crowell was born December 23, 1927 in Clarks, Louisiana to the union of William Henry and Ola Mae Emmons Oxner. She went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 24, 2018, where she was reunited with her husband, Herman Richard Crowell, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was 90.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings: William Lee Oxner; Ethel Oxner McMullen; Ruba Ruth Oxner Fant; Frank Oxner, John Oxner, and granddaughter, Eileen Entz Doran.

She is survived by one sister, Marie Oxner Murphy of Monroe, LA and one brother, Charles L. Oxner [Emmer] of Olla, LA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Four daughters, Dolores Crowell Larson [Donald] of Brownsville, TX; Patricia Crowell Doran [Richard] of Cassopolis, MI; Helen Crowell Dray [William] of Ft. Worth, TX; and, Marion Crowell Harrelson [David] of Grayson, LA.

Nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Katrina Larson Wranosky [John Tom] and their son Daniel; Kristen Larson Knight [Jeremy]; Peter Doran and his children Christopher and Emily Clara Doran; Reneé Doran Underwood [Todd] and their children Trevor, Tyler, Tanner and Trent Underwood; Laurie Doran Logan [Tim] and their children Benjamin, Lucas and Karisse Logan; Stephen Dray [Liz] and their children Elliott and Simon Dray; Becky Dray; and Duncan and Emily Harrelson.

Margaret loved crafting, she especially enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as well as painting cards. She began crocheting name banners after a friend gave her the instructions in 1999 and created over 400 name banners.

Margaret and Herman moved to Oakland, California initially after they married in 1945, and when Dolores was 2-1/2 they built a home in Pleasant Hill, California. They returned to Louisiana after Herman retired from the Oakland Tribune. They lived here from 1978 until their death. They were members of Grayson Baptist Church where she started the Children's Church program in 1979, which she taught until she began teaching the adult women's Sunday School class, which she taught until about a month before her death.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Grayson Baptist Church, Grayson, Louisiana.
