Margaret Sue White
Margaret Sue White was born at HomePlace, the House on the Hill, located on Bayou Jean de Jean near Boyce Louisiana on August 3, 1928. She was a descendant of Pioneer Families of Rapides Parish. She passed away in her home at 416 Old Highway 171 in Moss Bluff on December 18, 2013 at the age of 85.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Oswald White; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt James Sr.; two sons, James Alan White and Carroll David White; three brothers, DeWitt James Jr., William Fielding James, and McCauley Mercer James; and one sister, Dixie James Willis.
She is survived by one sister, Ella Elizabeth James; one brother, Grundy James; six daughters, Martha White, Debra Jones, Sandra Marshall, Bonnie McDonald, Mary Ann Darbonne, Linda Kay Cline; one son, Charles Calvin White; fifteen grandchildren, Susan Credeur, Dwayne Hightower, Christie Jones, Hayden Jones, Bryan White, Louisette Wing, Francelle McKlemurry, Benjamin and Tyler McDonald, Douglas Marshall, Chris and Lenny Darbonne, Philip, Tommy, and Kenny Fontenot and several great grandchildren.
Mrs. White was a published author of a book of memoirs and several family oriented articles. She graduated with a B.A. and a M.A. Degree in Education from McNeese State University. She taught school for many years in several Lake Charles area schools. She was instrumental in establishing and setting up the first Moss Bluff Library. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff for over 60 years, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir member, and was involved in several different ministries there.
She was devoted to her family, church, and community and was a loyal friend to many. Mrs. White will be missed by all who loved her; however, there is great joy and peace in knowing that she is in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, the Lord of All, and is no longer suffering or in pain.
Her funeral service will be held 10am on Saturday, December 21, at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff with visitation on Friday, December 20 from 5pm-9pm at the church. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
