Holiday Highway Deaths Are Down

Seven persons died on Mississippi highways since 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, falling short of the Highway Patrol's predicted 30 fatalities during the five days ending at midnight Sunday.

Latest fatalities, all Thursday, were:

Mrs. Margie Morris, 40, and her 11-year-old son, Milton Gene Morris, of Baton Rouge. They died in a headon collision just south of Natchez. The two drivers, Milton E. Morris of Baton Rouge and Ed Berryhill of Natchez, were injured.

Robert Dell Harbour, 10 months, of New Orleans, died and five persons were injured in a two-car collision near Biloxi.

A three-car smash up near Greenville killed 18-year-old Earline Young of Greenville.

Other deaths included Clayton Butler, 14, of Silver Creek, killed there in an auto-scooter accident Mississippi's only reported Christmas day fatality; Charlie R. Brown, 65, of McLain, killed when he stepped into the path of an automobile near Lucedale; and Ruth Pittman, 21, of Columbia, killed when her automobile ran off of Highway 35 south of Columbia.
