Marie Cowart Head

Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend to many, and daughter of Noah and Pearl Cowart, who preceeded her in death. She was resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Franklin County, MS and passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 as a result of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Marie was 86 and a retired accountant with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court's Office.

Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Friday, May 30, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Private interment will be at Midway Cemetery in Meadville, MS.

Marie is preceded in death by her two sisters, Elaine Lovett, of Meadville, MS and Doris Francis, of Mendenhall, MS.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Ray (Tommy) Layton, of Mendenhall, MS; her children, Milton “Sonny” Childers and partner Curtis Thomson of Cloverdale, CA, Bruce Childers and wife Cathy Childers, of Baton Rouge and Carolyn Phillips, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Cade Childers, Chevis Hughes and wife Lauren, Charles Phillips, Brock Childers, and Zachary Phillips; and two great grandchildren, Holland Hughes and Heaton Hughes; nephew, Fred Lovett; and nieces Melissa Francis and Judy Draper.
