Services for Marie McKinney Lewis, 91, of Diboll, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Bro. Jerry Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lewis was born June 19, 1921 in Moffett (Angelina County), Texas, the daughter of the late Felicia (McCarty) and William Matt McKinney. She passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Lewis loved her family. She was a military wife and her life was the military for many years. She was an avid reader and was a member of Burke Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Corrigan Chapter #631.
Survivors include her sister, Ruth Tidwell of Diboll; niece, Suzanne Norris and husband Dewayne of Tyler; nephew, Leon Tidwell of Diboll; great nieces, Christy Kennedy and husband Michael of Tyler; great nephew, Rodney Norris and wife Tiffany of Tyler; great-great nieces, Lexi and Taylor Norris of Tyler, Addison Kennedy of Tyler and Amanda Kennedy of Dallas; great-great nephews, Austin and Aaron Kennedy of Tyler; sister-in-law, Louise McKinney of Tyler; and a number of other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, William O. “Zero” Lewis; and brother, Thomas “Benjie” McKinney.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
