Marilyn Emmons

Marilyn Emmons, 70, of Fort Collins, died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Poudre Valley Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Foothills Unitarian Church. Cremation will be conducted. Interment will be at Forest Park Cemetery in Shreveport, La. Goes Funeral Care is handling arrangements.

Marilyn Carroll was born March 24, 1929, in Shreveport to George S. Carroll and Mamie Green Carroll.

She studied music education and Spanish at Louisiana Polytechnic Institute and received a master's degree in Spanish from Tulane University in New Orleans.

She married Glenroy Emmons on Dec. 22, 1946, in Shreveport.

Mrs. Emmons moved to Fort Collins in 1964 from Las Cruces, N.M. She taught music and Spanish for one year at Fort Collins High School and for many years at Colorado State University. She also was a violinist and violist with the Fort Collins Symphony since 1964.

She was a member of Foothills Unitarian Church. She was interested in medieval history and Romanesque sculpture, and traveled in Spain, Portugal and southern France.

Survivors include her husband, Glen Emmons of Fort Collins three sons, Stephen Emmons of Fort Collins, Scott Emmons of Kansas City, Mo., and Marc Emmons of Eugene, Ore. and one grandson.
