Marilyn Ethel Johnson King

SHREVEPORT, LA -- A memorial service celebrating the life of Marilyn Ethel Johnson King will be at 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Officiating will be Thomas Jones. A reception will follow in the church parlor. A private burial will be held at Minden Cemetery, Minden, LA.

Marilyn was born December 15, 1944. A lifelong resident of Shreveport, LA, she passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at her residence after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was a devout Christian and a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Shreveport. Marilyn was active in the Shreveport area. She was past president of the Symphony Guild. Marilyn had an unforgettable personality. To be with her made your day and you were sure to leave there laughing. She enjoyed her family, music, arts, and traveling.

Her parents, John H. Johnson, Jr. and Mildred Davenport Johnson, preceded Marilyn in death. Left to share beautiful memories are her son, James Richardson King, Jr. and his fiancé, Corinne DeFord of Fort Worth, TX; daughter, Alicia King Akins and her husband, Paul of McKinney, TX; and sister, Marsha Enterline of Dayton, OH and her daughters, Sarah Enterline Roch and her husband, Josh and Claire Enterline.

Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Akins, Will Blanchard, Al Cook, John Dalton, William Dalton, Jimmy Garcie, Gary Gilbreath, J.J. Jangula, Richard King, Sal Miletello, Andy Shehee, and Ivan Smith, Jr.
