Marion F. Whittington

Marion Frances Thurman Whittington, 77, of Summit died March 10, 2001, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Visitation is Monday at Catchings Funeral Home from noon-1:30p.m. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. at Whittington Cemetery in Amite County with Dr. David Millican officiating.

Mrs. Whittington was born Aug. 22, 1923, in Louisiana. She was the daughter of Matthew and Lula Jane Holmes Thurman.

She graduated from Fernwood High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Summit United Methodist Church. She formerly owned Marion's Jewelry Store in Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis.

Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Thomas Boyd Whittington of Summit; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lyndall and Frank Parrish of Slidell, La., Marion René Whittington of Bay St. Louis; two sisters, Maxine LaPlant of Pascagoula and Yvonne Verrier of Diamondhead; a granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Jacob Gazzo of Denham Springs, La.; and one great-granddaughter, Kiley Elize Gazzo of Denham Springs.
