Marjorie Jane Lewis Sanderson
OAKDALE - Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, in the First Baptist Church in Oakdale for Marjorie Jane Lewis Sanderson, 71, who passed away Friday, July 8, 2005, in her home surrounded by her family.
The Reverends Stephen Laughlin and Wesley Lester will be officiating.
Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Sanderson was a life long resident of Oakdale where she was a member of the graduating class of 1952. She was a teacher at the Oakdale Elementary School from 1965 until 1987. She then served as supervisor from 1987 until 1994. In 1995 Mrs. Sanderson was elected to the Allen Parish School Board where she served until her passing.
A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Oakdale and a loving mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Leland Garner Sanderson, of Oakdale, La.; one son, Leland Lewis Sanderson and his wife, Anne, of Laurel, Miss.; two daughters, Juanita Gale Sanderson Fox and her husband, Rusty, of Broussard, La., and Sally Jane Sanderson Peart and her husband, Richard, of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Thomas Odom Lewis and his wife, Reta, of Gilmer, Texas; and one sister, Juanita Crawford, of Oakdale, La.; five grandchildren, Katie Jane Fox, Lukas Leland Fox, William Curtis Fox, Amy Elizabeth Sanderson and Ryan Lewis Sanderson; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Visitation will be observed from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. today at Rush Funeral Home, Downtown, Oakdale, and will continue from 8 a.m. until noon Sunday.
Visitation will resume at 1 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church and will continue until time of services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Curtis T. Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund.
