Marjorie Jones

Jones, Marjorie McDonald (“MobbyMac”) Age 90, Dallas, Texas died April 17, 2012 at Silverado Senior Living Center - Turtle Creek of natural causes.

A talented artist and gifted musician, Marjorie traveled the world with her Army career husband, LTC (Ret.) Edwin A. Jones. Born in Wisner, Louisiana in June 1921, she was the second child of Myrtle and Anthony C. McDonald. During her life, Marjorie studied art and music with equal passion. Classically trained as a pianist, she became an accomplished pipe organist. For such a petite, unassuming person, she could really “belt it out” on the pipe organ. In painting watercolors, acrylics, and oils, she transformed from portrait and landscape subjects to abstract expressionism -- probably an analogy for her life, transforming from a small-town, timid girl to a worldly woman with bold enthusiasm for the fine arts.

In later years, she was heavily involved with music and choir programs at both Temple Emanu-El and Park Cities Baptist Church and volunteered to sing and play at nursing homes across Dallas. A one-woman art show is planned later this year to display and offer her paintings, sculpture, and collages for sale at the community building named after her and located outside Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Marjorie was well-loved by many and is survived by her daughter, Deborah J. Myers, sister Beverly C. Phillips and brother Stanley M. McDonald.

Her remains will be interred at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.

In lieu of a memorial service, the family asks that donations be made to the Center for BrainHealth, Dallas http://www.brainhealth.utdallas.edu/index.phpwww.centerforbrainhealth.org
