Death Claims Mrs. Martha A. McCarty Apr. 29
Funeral Services Conducted at Hurricane Grove Last Thursday
Mrs. Martha A. McCarty, 81 years, 6 months, and 21 days of age, died at her
home at Sikes, Winn Parish, Wednesday, April 29, 1936, following a stroke of
paralysis two weeks ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Hurricane
Grove Church Thursday afternoon by the Rev. Joe Adams and the Rev. George
Adams of Sikes.
Mrs. McCarty was born near Brookhaven, Miss., the daughter of the late William
B. Brister. She lived the greater part of her life in the Sikes Community.
She was the widow of the late Daniel McCarty.
Surviving are six sons, W. W., C. A., and W. G. McCarty of Sikes; D. S.
McCarty of St. Joseph, La.; H. M. McCarty, Crowville, La.; and C. C. McCarty,
Winnsboro, La.; one daughter, Mrs. G. D. Buchans, Crowville, La.; two sisters,
Mrs. Richard Johnson, Flat Creek, La.; and Mrs. Lee Johnson of Baskin; and a
host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
