Mart Emmons Rites To Be Wednesday

Funeral services for Mart Emmons, 77, of Houston and formerly of Port Arthur, will be held here Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Grammier-Oberle Funeral home chapel with Robert Qualls, minister of the Procter Street Church of Christ, officiating.

Mr. Emmons died Monday at 5 p.m. in Park Place hospital after a lingering illness. He had been a patient at the hospital for the past week.

Burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery in Nederland.

He and his wife, Mrs. Docia Emmons, lived in Port Arthur for 24 years and prior to moving to Houston, the couple lived in Groves with a son, Ray Emmons, formerly of 3049 Graves avenue. At the time of his death, the elder Mr. and Mrs. Emmons made their home in Houston with Ray Emmons at 51111 Baynton.

Other survivors are four other sons, Travis Emmons of Lakeview, Jewel Emmons of Victoria, Gilbert Emmons of Beaumont and Hugh Emmons of New Orleans; two sisters, Mrs. Allie Yarborough of Austin and Mrs. Frances Whitton of Silsbee; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
