Reverend Marvin Cobb
NATCHEZ - Services for the Reverend Marvin Cobb, 74, of Natchez, who died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at his residence after a long illness, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Dale Little, Rev. Leslie Wooten, and Rev. Mack Walker officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Springfield Baptist Church.
Rev. Cobb was born Nov. 19, 1931, in Brookhaven, the son of Bythel Lindsey and Allie Boling Cobb. He preached the gospel for 37 years. He was the former pastor of Springfield Baptist Church as well as pastoring four other churches in the area. He retired from Armstrong Rubber Company.
Rev. Cobb was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Anthony Cobb; sisters, Lena Mae Bristor, Gladys McGuffie and Mildred Wallace; brothers, L. C. Cobb, Leroy Cobb, Carl Cobb, Ray Cobb, and T. G. Cobb.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Flora Lee Cobb of Natchez; sons, Nathan Cobb and wife, Dianne, of Meadville, Bruce Cobb and wife, Annette, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; daughters, Vickie Halford, Valerie Mullins, and husband, Danny, and Kim Cobb, all of Natchez; sister, Thitus Cody of Summit; brother, Earvin Cobb of Summit; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Cobb, Randy Cobb, Griff Toney, James Walker, Danny Mullins, and Lonnie Barnett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Merritt, Harvey Boyte, Lloyd Farris, Robert Warren, Chris Waterer, M.D., and Woody Walters.
The family expresses a special thank you to Community Hospice for their care.
