Shongaloo, LA -- Funeral services for Mr. Marvin Kennon Wise, age 82, will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 1, 2013, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, LA, with Chaplain William "Buster" Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Shongaloo, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 30, 2013 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA.

Mr. Wise was born on June 17, 1931 to Leonard Holt and Lenora Morgan Wise in Shongaloo, LA and passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 in Shongaloo, LA. He was a lifelong resident of this area, a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict and was retired from International Paper Company after 28 years of service. He then worked in the oilfield for two years and then worked eleven years in the pulpwood business. He loved raising quail.

He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Shirley Ruth Lee Dalrymple Wise; two daughters, Sandy Wise Foster and life partner, Bobby Charles; Marianne Bassinger and husband, Rudy, all of Shongaloo, LA; four grandchildren, Crystal Harstad of Dubberly, LA, Charity Farmer of Choudrant, LA, Bridget Bailey of Bossier City, LA, BreAnna Bridges of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, L.H. Wise, Jr. and wife, Virgia, of Shongaloo, LA; sister, Mary Fuller and husband, Waldo, of Shongaloo, LA; eight great-grandchildren; three step-children, Vic Dalrymple and wife, Mary Ellen, of Oak Grove, LA, Freda Bareswill of Swartz, LA, Scott Dalrymple and wife Claudette, of Downsville, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wise was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Holt Wise and Lenora Wise; his wife, Doris Jean Wallace Wise; son, Gary Marvin Wise; brothers Elton Wise and J. W. Wise; sisters, Opal Maldonado, Letha Dick and, Elsie Rae Garza.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Charles, Rudy Bassinger, Randy Gordon, Waldo Fuller, Ronnie Wise, Rodney Wise, Brian Bailey and Carl Moore.
