Marvis James Simons
(August 14, 1929 - November 27, 2005)
Mr. Marvis James Simons, age 76, of Sikes, La., passed away Sunday, November 27, 2005, at Health South Hospital in Ruston, La. He was a member of Church Of Christ. Mr. Simons was a life long resident of Sikes, La. He was a retired bus driver with the Greyhound Bus Company.
He was the son of the late Dave Simons and the late Hester (Sikes) Simons.
He is survived by his one son, Kenneth Clifton and wife Gerri of Sikes, La.; one daughter, Spring Simons of Huntersville, N.C.; three sisters, Chloteil Starnes of Sikes, La., Chlonita Mahaffey of Houston, Texas, [and] Marcelene Wright of Conroe, Texas; two grandchildren, Vance Clifton and wife Susie of Spring, TX [and] Suzy Matthews and husband Joey of Sugarland, TX; six great-grandchildren; [and] numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, La., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 30, 2005 and from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2005. Funeral services will be held at Southern Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2005, with Rev. Kenneth Tarver officiating. Interment will be at Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, La.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Simons, Everett Zehr, Dan Searcy, Vance Clifton, Tommy Underwood, and Joseph Dulaney.
Carrol Hicks, W.C. Haney, Mason Wright, Joey Matthews, and T.J. Mahaffey will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
