``Grandma'' Miller is Called by Death on Friday, October 28

Mrs. Mary Alafair Miller, 84 years of age, died at 3 am on Friday, October 28, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Kosserog [sic Koserog], where she had been confined to her bed for the past seven weeks as the result of a burn and other complications.

Mrs. Miller, widow of the late Simeon Miller, had been a resident of this section for the past 27 years. She formerly resided in Winn Parish. She was a member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed a large number of friends and acquaintances to whom she was affectionately known as ``Grandma'' Miller.

Funeral services were conducted from the Jena Methodist Episcopal Church Saturday, with Rev. L. D. Posey, pastor of Jena Baptist Church, officiating. Interment was in Nolley Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Miller is survived by five daughters and three sons, who are Mrs. A. J. Cain [sic Crain], Sikes; Mrs. Tom Thornton, Mounds, La.; Mrs. J. A. Wall, Delhi; Mrs. Frank Kosserog [sic Koserog] and Mrs. C. A. Miller, of Jena; and S. J. Miller, Shreveport; M. E. Miller, Winnsboro; and J. H. Miller of Jena.
