Alice Winters
Oct. 9, 1932-March 8, 2005
NATCHEZ - Services for Alice Winters, 72, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Washington Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Upchurch, Rev. Dale Little, Rev. John Cofer, and the Rev. David McGuffee officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Washington Baptist Church.
Mrs. Winters was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Natchez, the daughter of John Clyde Campbell Sr. and the late Zelma Elaine Freeman Campbell. She was a member of Washington Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a part of and leading the Young-At-Heart Senior Adults of Washington Baptist Church. In her mid-forties, she returned to school to earn her degree in nursing and loved caring for patients for 15 years. She retired from Natchez Regional Medical Center in 1996. Her loving smile will be greatly missed; but she is walking on streets of gold.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, J. C. Winters of Natchez; her son, Donald Winters of Natchez; daughter, Jackie Winters of Brandon; father, Clyde Campbell Sr. of Natchez; sisters, Betty Holloway and husband, Jerry, and Doris Smith and husband, Leon, all of Washington; brother, J. C. Campbell and wife, Mary, of Dallas, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gary Holloway, Joel Smith, E. J. Foreman, Estus Porter, Carl Niven, and Bobby Acy.
