MARY POST

Mary Alice Cheatwood Fowler Jacks Post of Cottage Grove, Ore., died on April 26. She was 85.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 19 at 1:30 pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston, La.

Mrs. Post was born on July 30, 1915, to John and Zada Pesnell Cheatwood of Ruston, La. She married James Maron Fowler in Ruston, La., on May 4, 1937. Mr. Fowler died in the 1940's. She married Walter Theron Jacks inWinnsboro, La., on Aug. 19, 1951. Mr. Jacks died on May 25, 1967. She married John William Post in Ruston, La., on Dec. 21, 1968. Mr. Post died on Aug. 2, 1981. She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Ramie T. Jacks.

Mrs. Post lived in Ruston, La., Ridgecrest and Cottage Grove, Ore. She earned a master's degree in education and worked as postmistress at Louisiana Technological University.

She was also employed at China Lake Naval WeaponsCenter, assembling technical manuals.

Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, catering wedding cakes, music, and playing piano.

She was a member of Eastern Star and gardening clubs.

Mrs. Post is survived by a son, Peter James Fowler of Greenwood, La., step-daughter, Nancy Jack Williams of Winters, Tex., three daughters, Carolyn Fowler Lemonier of Hightlands Ranch, Colo., Dorothy Fowler Williams of Coburg, Ore., and Jane Jacks McDonald of Cottage Grove, Ore., eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family request memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.

Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.

COTTAGE GROVE -- A memorial graveside service will be held May 19 for Mary Alice Cheatwood-Fowler-Jacks-Post of Cottage Grove, who died April 26 of age-related causes. She was 85.

Post was born July 30, 1915, in Ruston, La., to John and Zada Pesnell Cheatwood. She married James Fowler in Ruston on May 4, 1937. He died March 10, 1947. She married Walter Jacks of Winnsboro, La., on Aug. 19, 1951. He died May 25, 1967. She married John Post in Ruston on Dec. 21, 1968. He died Aug. 2, 1981.

Post assembled technical manuals at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in China Lake, Calif. She had also worked as a postmistress at Louisiana Technical University in Ruston.

She enjoyed gardening, sewing, catering wedding cakes, playing the piano and music. She was a member of the Eastern Star and gardening clubs.

Post lived in Ruston and Ridgecrest, Calif., before moving to Cottage Grove. She had received a master's degree in education.

Survivors include a son, Peter Fowler of Greenwood, La.; three daughters, Carolyn Lemonier of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Dorothy Williams of Coburg and Jane McDonald of Cottage Grove; a step-daughter, Nancy Williams of Winters, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A step-son, Ramie Jacks, died previously.

The May 19 service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of local arrangements.
