Mary Avis Zion
Mary Avis Zion, 85, a longtime resident of Gloster, died June 25, 2008, at Field Memorial Community Hospital in Centreville.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 tonight at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, and 10 a.m. Saturday until services there at 11 a.m. The Rev. David Brooks and the Rev. Louis Burghard will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery in Gloster.
Mrs. Zion was born Nov. 4, 1922, in the Oxford community near Gloster. She was the daughter of Abe and Myrtle Thomas Foreman.
She was a homemaker and a member of Gloster United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Zion was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles Zion.
Survivors include one son, George Zion and his wife Judy of Centreville; two daughters, Carolyn Payne and her husband Bobby, and Patricia Lafontaine and her husband Hank, all of Gloster; one brother, Davis Foreman of Gloster; one sister, Doris Redmond of Baton Rouge; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
