HIGHTOWER, MARY ELEANOR MCCARTY

Died Friday, Jan. 16, 1981, at her residence. She was a native of Haynesville and a resident of Baton Rouge.

Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Religious services at Broadmoor Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Sunday. Visiting at Conger Funeral Home, Arcadia, from 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Final services at 10 a.m. Monday at Conger Funeral Home. Burial in Arcadia cemetery.

Survived by her husband, Thomas R. Hightower, Baton Rouge; two daughters, Mrs. Michial L. Stewart, Quitman, and Mrs. John W. Durrett, Arcadia; a son, Thomas Reginald Hightower Jr., Baton Rouge; two sisters, Mrs. Robert A. Mitchell, Shreveport, and Mrs. G. Donald Allen, Walterboro, S.C.; three brothers, Howard T. McCarty, Ruston, Robert McCarty, Fort Worth, Texas, and Marvin R. McCarty, Baton Rouge; five grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents.

She was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, Kappa Delta sorority, Chapter AA P.E.O. Sisterhood, Women's Hospital Auxiliary. She was active in church music as a pianist, organist and choir director. She served several years as a state officer.
