Mrs. Powers
Funeral services for Mrs. C. P. (Mary Elizabeth) Powers, 82, of Steep Hollow
are scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Callaway-Jones Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Powers died Thursday in a local hospital. The Rev. Louie Walston of
the Baptist Church is scheduled to officiate. Burial will be in the
Steep Hollow Cemetery.
A lifetime resident of Brazos County, Mrs. Powers was born Dec. 27, 1888,
and was a member of the Steep Hollow Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, John Powers of Houston; Lum Powers and
William Powers, both of Bryan; four daughters, Mrs. J. M. Dyess,
Mrs. David Wilkerson, both of Bryan; Mrs. John D. Jones of Pasadena,
and Mrs. Anson Barnett of Waco; six brothers, Horace Bullock of Allen Reed;
Edgar Bullock of Houston; Curtis Bullock of College Station; Lum Bullock,
Clarence Bullock and Sam Bullock, all of Bryan; four sisters, Mrs. Ollie
Crenshaw, Mrs. Lloyd D. Smith, Mrs. John T. Smith and Mrs. Holland Boring,
all of Bryan; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Scheduled as pallbearers are Mack Cooner, Horace R. Smith, Jerry Smith,
Enoch Smith, Ralph Smith and John Elvin Smith, all nephews.
