Local Woman's Services Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hawthorne, 43, 3106 Parkhurst St., will be held today at 11 a.m. in the Parkhurst Baptist Church under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hawthorne, who has lived in Shreveport for 33 years, died Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Willis-Knighton Hospital following an illness of three months.

A native of Homer, she was a member of the Parkhurst Baptist Church, president of the Women's Missionary Union, and a teacher at T.E.L. Sunday school class of the church.

Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bernard Higgens, pastor of Parkhurst Baptist Church, and the Rev. Jack Merritt, pastor of the Ingleside Baptist Church. Burial will be in Centuries Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hawthorne is survived by her husband, Herbert S. Hawthorne; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Williams and Mrs. Ethel Tombleson, both of Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be Jim Brumbelow, Carl Hawkins, Herman Lankford, Earl Brown, Charles Shufflin and Tomm Crista.
