DIED WHILE HERE ON VISIT TO SON
Mrs. Mary E. Manley died at the home of her son, John E. Tiley, on Sunday afternoon,
aged 54 years, one month and two days. Mrs. Manley, whose home was at Aroya, Colorado, came
to this city on a visit to relatives, and after being here four days took seriously ill and
died at the above-stated time. Her death was a severe shock to the family.
Deceased was born in Carter County, Mo., on December 30, 1864, and for many years was a
well-known resident of this city. Some years ago she moved to Collinsville and later went
to Aroya, Colo., where she resided since. In the year 1880 she was united in marriage to
James Tiley. Four children were born to them, all of whom survive, as follows: John E.
Tiley, in this city; George W., at Collinsville; Martha, wife of Charles Young, and Mary
E., wife of Henry Daughtery, at Aroya, Colo. Her husband died in 1885.
In April, 1890, she was married to A. R. Manley, who was killed in a mine accident at
Collinsville in 1904. Six children were born to this union, three of who died in infancy -
Ruth, Grace and Hughey Manley; and the following remain to mourn her death, Lavena, wife of
G. L. Foy, at San Francisco, Cali; Robert Manley, with U. S. Hospital Unit No. 32, located
in France, and Ethel, wife of Walter Hill at Belt, Mont. From this union she also leaves
two step-children - Charles Manley, at Collinsville, and Mrs. James Roberts in this city.
Her aged step-father and mother, D. B. and Mary Lee of Flat River, Mo., and four
step-sisters and four step-brothers - Mrs. E. Decker, of East St. Louis; Mrs. Jane McLeod,
Mrs. Laura Wray, Mrs. Martha Schrumm, David, John, Felix and Henry Lee of Flat River, Mo.,
and 13 grand children also survive.
During her residence here Mrs. Manley made many staunch friends, among whom she was
know as an industrious and home-loving wife and mother.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the residence of John E. Tiley, where
services were conducted at 2:30 o?clock by Rev. C. E. Sisney, pastor of the M. E. Church.
Interment was in the Tiedemann cemetery.

Felix Lee of Flat River, Mo.; Mr. William Griffiths and Mr. F. L. Reber, of Granite City; Mr. and Mrs. George W.
Tiley and daughters, Helen and Fay, Mr. and Mrs Gunkel and Jerry Vaughn, of Collinsville; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Tiley,
Mrs. Robert Manley and Mrs. Zoller, of St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. E. Decker and daughter, Helen of East St. Louis, and
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carpenter, of Lebanon.
