MARY ELIZABETH ALLIS
WOOSTER -- Mary Elizabeth Allis, 87, of Wooster, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in West View Manor Nursing Home.
Friends may call one hour prior to the 11 a.m. service at St. James Episcopal Church, Friday, Feb. 2, with the Rev. Evelyn Manzella officiating. Interment will follow in Wooster Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home, Wooster.
Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Cheneyville, La., she was the daughter of Clyde C. and Eva Rae (Caldwell) Tanner. She married John M. Allis on March 15, 1947. He died Aug. 20, 1996. She was a graduate of Cheneyville High School and had attended Louisiana Normal College and in 1970 received the degree of bachelor of science in education from Kent State University. She was a teacher and elementary school librarian for Sharon Center and Hinckley Elementary Schools in Medina County, retiring in 1981. During the early years when she lived in Wooster, she was a member of the Traveler's Club and Wooster Women's Civic Club and had served on the Wooster Shade Tree Committee.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, John L. Allis of Wooster, C. Tanner (Hedi) Allis of Midland, Mich., and James H. (Dawn) Allis of Norton; three grandsons; a granddaughter and two nephews.
She was the last of her family.
