Fairbanks resident Mary Ellen Huffman, 77, died June 18, 2003, at Denali Center.
Ellen was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Sikes, La. She graduated from high school in Sikes and moved to Fairbanks in 1955.
Ellen completed Dietary Correspondence School and was employed as a cook at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital from 1972 to 1985.
Her hobbies were handicrafts, reading, growing flowers, cooking, fishing, and hunting.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of North Pole.
Her family said, ``She was a loving and loyal wife, mother and grandmother who would always make time to listen to family and friends.''
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Simon Huffman in 1975, and three brothers.
Ellen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bill Green of North Pole; grandchildren and their spouses, Debbie and Ted Norris of Willow, Dale and Tina Green of Scott Air Force Base, Ill., and Dotti and Eddie Joslin of Germany; great-grandchildren, Mandie Norris, Paul Norris, Branden Green, Amanda Green, Krystyn Green, Morgan Green, Cory Stanaway, Devin Stanaway, Ashley Joslin, Lindsey Joslin and Shelby Joslin; and great-great-grandson Chance Green.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, June 22, at Chapel of Chimes. Flowers may be delivered to the chapel.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, June 23, at First Baptist Church of North Pole. Pastor Johnny McCoy will officiate. A reception will be held after the service.
Arrangements were by Chapel of Chimes Mortuary.
