AGED SISTERS FOLLOW EACH OTHER IN DEATH

Mrs. M. J. Johnson, one of the oldest residents of Harrison county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. O. Y. Conn Wednesday, May 3, at 1:40 o'clock. Mrs. Johnson was born at Biloxi, January 26, 1842, being eighty years of age. She had been a faithful member of the Baptist church and a consecrated Christian for 46 years. She was baptized July 31, 1876. She was the last of a large family to pass away.

Her sister, Mrs. M. E. Williams, died the same day at 8:05 in the morning, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Isiah Tilman of Gulfport. Mrs. Williams was 62 years of age, being the “baby” of the family.

Both sisters were carried to the Allen cemetery of Long Beach in the same hearse and were laid to rest beside their beloved husbands. Reverend Young of Gulfport, and Reverend Creel of Biloxi, conducted the funeral services.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by five children: Joe Johnson of Mobile, John Johnson, Mrs. Joseph Parker, Mrs. O. Y. Conn, and Mrs. W. J. Conn, all of Long Beach and 37 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Williams is survived by 3 children: Marshall B. Williams and Mrs. W. F. Winter of Long Beach, and Mrs. Isiah Tilman of Gulfport and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The children of both sisters were blessed in being able to be with their mothers to the last. The funeral procession was nearly a mile long while the floral offerings were beautiful, both graves being covered in flowers.
