Mary F. McCarty

Mary Frances Robertson McCarty, age 91, formerly of Florence, Ala., passed from this life June 16, 2006, at Fayette Medical Center LTC after an extended illness.

Services will be June 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home, Vernon, Ala., with Charles Curtis and Donnie McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow at Rowan Cemetery in Caledonia, Miss. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 18.

Mrs. McCarty was born May 23, 1915, in Steens, Miss., to the late Andrew Jackson Robertson and Rubye Lucy Perkins Robertson. She graduated from Steens High School in 1934. She worked at the Gulf Ordnance Plant in Prairie, Miss., during World War II, Pruitt's Photography and Seminole in Columbus, Miss., and did alterations for The Bootery in Florence, Ala. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Underwood Baptist Church in Florence, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther E. McCarty; brothers, J.P. Robertson Sr., Owen Robertson and Douglas Robertson Sr.; sisters, Clareene R. Curtis and Rubye Agnes Robertson.

She is survived by daughter, Katrina (David) Rhudy; one granddaughter, Mary Alyssa Rhudy; sisters, Annie R. Lagrone, of Steens, Miss., Evelyn R. Wright, of Columbus, Miss., and Doris R. Richards, of Montgomery, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be J.P. Robertson Jr., Doug Robertson Jr., David Curtis, Ted Dahlem, Bobby Ealum and Glenn Richey. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Fayette Medical Center LTC.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Arthritis Foundation.
