Mary Jean Larson Streeter
SAN ANTONIO -- Mary Jean Larson Streeter, age 75, of San Antonio passed away on March 18, 2002 after a long and valiant battle against cancer. She was born March 21, 1926, in Norphlet, Ark., to Eva Louella Elliott Larson and Hugh Matthew Larson. Mrs. Streeter graduated valedictorian from Norphlet High School (Norphlet, Ark.) in 1944 and graduated with honors from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1947 with a B.S. in Education. She married Thomas Harvey Streeter on May 25, 1947. They later lived in Texarkana and settled in San Antonio, Texas in 1961.
After Mr. Streeter's retirement from State Farm Insurance in 1984, they moved to their country home in Blanco, Texas. A teacher by education but a housewife and mother by choice, Mrs. Streeter delighted in her home and raising her four children. She was totally devoted to her husband of almost 55 years, her children, and later, her grandchildren. She was also dedicated to her work with the First Baptist Church of San Antonio, teaching Sunday School classes to the Kindergarten-age children for over 37 years. A generous and compassionate person, Mrs. Streeter always put the needs of her family before her own. Her capacity for love was boundless and unconditional. She and her supporting spirit will be sorely missed by her family, friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Streeter is survived by her husband, Tom of Blanco, Texas; daughter, Tommie Streeter Zwernemann of Canyon Lake, Texas; son, Terry Streeter and wife, Donna, of Austin, Texas; son, Kent Streeter and wife, Becky, of Bogalusa, La.; and daughter, Tracy Streeter Carrola and husband, Tony, of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Max Zwernemann (USCG), Alex Zwernemann (Arizona State University), Michael and Grant Streeter of Boerne, Texas, and Blair Evans of Bogalusa, La.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 at Porter Loring. Memorial Service Friday, 2 p.m., Wilson Chapel of the First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Television Ministry of the First Baptist, San Antonio.
