Mary Juanita Davis, age 93 and a resident of Gulfport, died Saturday June 27, 2015, in Gulfport. Mrs. Davis was a native of Monroe, LA and a resident of the Coast since 1956. A former nurse and homemaker, Mrs. Davis was a devote Catholic and attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Gulfport.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Adelaide Sherwood, a sister Willie Mae Wright, and husband, James H. Davis. Survivors include her sister Marie Wagley, of Fairhope, AL; daughter Barbara Griffith of Pass Christian, son James “Don” Davis and wife, Sibyl, of Kirkland, WA; five grandchildren, Tina Oakes, Alex Griffith, Chris Griffith, Aria Voss and Ryan Davis; and three great-grandchildren, Brandon Griffith, Lexie Griffith and Zoe Voss.

The family wish to thank April's Place and the following staff members for their loving care of Mrs. Davis: Shonda, Yolanda, LaToya, Nickie, Edna, Shirley, Mildred, Zach, Betty, Connie, Frankie, Arielle, Cierra, Lucy, Patricia, Raquel, Tamara, Tymeka and Ms. April; also, the nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Hospice and Pinnacle Hospice.

Visitation will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 10am until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport.
