Mrs. Mary Kate Nelson Barker
January 3, 1925 - April 29, 2018

Mrs. Mary Kate Nelson Barker, 93, of Thomaston, died Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Barker will be held Tuesday, May 1, at 11:00 AM, in the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Yatesville, GA. Elder Chris Hill will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 9 PM at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Mrs. Barker was born January 3, 1925, in Upson County to the late Jessie Horton and Lonnie Ellerbee. She retired from the William Carter Company where she was employed for many years as a seamstress. Mrs. Barker was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her husband, James Aldine Barker, and her daughter, Ellene Barker Willis Barron. She is survived by her son, James Gaylon Barker; two grandsons: Gary L. Willis and Clinton D. Willis, Jr.; five great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
