Mary Louise [sic Louis] Gardner Folse
SAREPTA, LA - Mary Louis Gardner Folse, of Sarepta, Louisiana, died February 3, 2005, at Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
She was born January 4, 1918, in Sarepta, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Louis S. Gardner and Mary Denmon Gardner and the granddaughter of G.B. Denmon who came to Louisiana from Georgia in the 1850's. She resided the majority of her life on the Denmon/Gardner property in Sarepta, Louisiana. She graduated from Springhill High School and attended business school. She worked at International Paper Company for several years. In 1947 she married Roy G. Folse, who passed away in 1980. Together they owned and operated Roy's Pharmacy in Springhill, Louisiana for many years.
She is survived by her children: John J. Downs of Sarepta, Louisiana; Lynda J. Downs Gibbs of Alanson, Michigan; Mary Ann Folse Lennox of Snellville, Georgia, and Roy G. Folse, Jr. of Texarkana, Texas and a brother, Arlen Ray Gardner of Monroe, LA as well as eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Louis Joseph Folse, in 1954.
Visitation will be at Bailey Mortuary in Springhill, Louisiana from 5:30-7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2005.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on February 9th at the Bailey Mortuary Chapel with Rev. John J. Downs officiating. Burial will be in the Old Sarepta Cemetery.
