Mary Louise Douglas
Services for Mary Louise Meredith Watson Douglas, age 87 of Grayson, will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2008, from the sanctuary of Grayson Baptist Church in Grayson with Rev. Jay Morgan, Rev. Paul Pearson and Rev. Thomas Peoples officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be 6 PM to 9 PM Saturday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia.
Mrs. Douglas was born in Clarks on April 2, 1941, to the union of Willie Ernest and Mary Belle Prestridge Meredith and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2008, at Haven Nursing Center in Columbia. She was a resident of Caldwell Parish her entire life. She attended school in Clarks and later Northeast LA Junior College. As a young woman, she began her career with the local sawmill in Clarks and later began her long association with Citizens Progressive Bank. She retired from the bank in 2002 after 50 years of dedicated service. She continued to serve on the Board of Directors until 2006. Mary Louise was an active member of Grayson Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was also a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star White Lily Order, Chapter 129 now the Columbia Chapter No. 147, a former member of the Caldwell Parish Garden Club and involved with an active group of ``domino buddies'' at the Council on Aging. Most of all ``Weese'' loved her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband; Casper John Watson, an infant son and her beloved brother; Ernest Meredith, Jr.
Survivors include her husband; AJ Douglas, step son; Paul Douglas, step daughter; Dewana Hamry and her husband, Wayne, two step grandchildren; Mark Mink and Kathryn Mink, her sister-in-law; Mary Jo Meredith, two nieces; Jo Caldwell and her husband, Mike and Jan Williamson, great niece; Chris Roberts and her husband, Todd, two great nephews; Devin Caldwell and his wife, Tandi and John Williamson and six great great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Devin Caldwell, Paul Douglas, Wayne Hamry, Mark Mink, Todd Roberts, Tyler Roberts and John Williamson. Honorary pallbearers are Bennie Ray Cruse, Jerry Meredith, Lyn Meredith, Jay Boggan and Howard Strebeck.
