Mary E. Getty

ORLANDO -- Mary E. Getty passed away July 3, 2000, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 78. Mrs. Getty was born on May 17, 1922, in St. Martinsville, Louisiana, to James and Stella McDaniel Sr. At the time of her death, Mrs. Getty was in the Houston School System for many years at Stephen F. Austin High School. She chaired many organizations, including chairman of the English department, and also the National Teachers Association of English. Upon moving to Galveston, she chaired many educational and social organizations, including president of the Home Owners Association of Marina Pointe, president of the Women's Club of Sacred Heart and the Auxiliary Police Department of Galveston. Mrs. Getty moved to West Gate Lakes in Orlando, Florida to enjoy her retirement.

Mrs. Getty is preceded in death by her beloved husband, attorney, Clair Getty Jr. Mrs. Getty is survived by her two brothers, James C. McDaniel, of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Harold J. McDaniel, of New Orleans, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews from Arkansas, Louisiana, Maryland and Texas.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7, 2000, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at SouthPark Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas, with the celebration of life to follow at SouthPark Cemetery.

In lieu of floral donations, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Comforter, 4 W. Darlington Ave., Kissimmee, Florida, 34741.
