WHATLEY -- Mrs. Mary M. Whatley, age 71, died Monday, Dec. 6, in Reynolds, Ga. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Reynolds, at 2 p.m., Wednesday with burial in Hill Crest Cemetery, Reynolds.

Mrs. Whatley is a native of Taylor Co., a member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the American Mothers Committee, she was elected “Mother of the Year” for the State of Georgia in 1969. She was the past president for the third district, American Federation of Woman's Clubs, and past president of Reynolds Woman's Club. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. C. E. Whatley, Reynolds; five sons, Dr. E. C. Whatley, Leonard S. Whatley, Julian M. Whatley, all of Reynolds, Ga.; Clifford W. Whatley, Allendale, S.C.; William H. Whatley, Atlanta, Ga.; [one brother] L. R. Monk, Atlanta; [one sister] Mrs. Daisy Herring, Arlington, Ga. Goddard Funeral Home, Reynolds, Ga.
