Mary Maglena Arnold
Mary Maglena Arnold, 85, of Marietta, died Monday, January 10, 2011. She was born January 4, 1926 in Louin, Mississippi to Frank and Laura Sims McCarty. She was a 1944 graduate of Louin High School. She had worked at JCPenney in Marietta for many years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the CWC. She was a supporter of World War II war memorials. She was very devoted to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Maglena is survived by her husband, James J. “Jim” Arnold, whom she married on March 30, 1946 at the naval base in Gulfport, Mississippi; four sons, James G. (Carolyn) of Marietta, Kevin (Dixie) of Lancaster, Fletcher (Anita) of Kenna, WV and Ferris (Susan) of Marietta, a daughter, Seri McGraw of Vincent, fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, a sister, Gloria Jean Hawker (Jim) of Sour Lake, TX and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, two who lost their lives in World War II.
Funeral Liturgy, with Mass, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with the Rev. Virgil Reischman as celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and anytime on Wednesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home. The Vigil Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
