Mary Ann Pritchard Coleman

Mary Ann Coleman, 84, of the Old River Community east of Jena, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at her residence. She was born August 16, 1926 in Archie to the union of her parents, James Thomas and Frances Elizabeth Ogden Pritchard.

Mrs. Coleman worked as a cafeteria worker in several LaSalle Parish schools. She has been a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church at Rhinehart since 1951, and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 3, at Pine Grove Baptist Church of Rhinehart with the Revs. Mike Russell and Joey Paul officiating. Interment followed in the Pritchard Cemetery under direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.

Her parents, a son, Jimmy Dale Coleman, three sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Ernest Coleman of Old River; two daughters, Zelda Roberts and husband John of Huntington, TX and Donna Wiggins of Jena; three sons, Gus Coleman and wife Laurie of Moundville, AL, Terry “Buddy” Coleman and wife Suzette of Walker, and Joe Coleman and wife Saundria of Rhinehart; 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great great grandson; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Dale Coleman, Josh Coleman, Daniel Coleman, Seth Coleman, Nick Jones, Brian Andrews, David Paul Smith, Lachlan Chronister, and Brad Cockerham.

Honorary pallbearers were Pete Hopkins, Rose Nell King, Sean Labat, Matthew Spence, Jamie Pritchard, Larry Wayne Hopkins, B. W. Ewing, Jr., Ben Nolan and Jance Floyd.
