Mary Pratt Greene Nethery

Mary Pratt Greene Nethery, died at Sonoma Healthcare on Aug. 31, 2007, two months shy of her 100th birthday. Born Nov. 2, 1907 in Lucille, Alabama, Mrs. Nethery was the daughter of William Alexander and Theodosia Pratt Greene.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. She was married to Frank Girault Nethery of Athens, Alabama.

For many years she taught in the San Francisco school system and moved to Sonoma upon retirement. Mrs. Nethery was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the American Association of University Women, and the Sonoma P.E.O. She was the oldest member of Sonoma United Methodist Church.

She is survived by four nieces, great-nieces and nephews and three great-great-nieces.

Funeral services were held Sept. 6 at Sonoma United Methodist Church followed by burial at Valley Cemetery on MacArthur Street in Sonoma. Arrangements under the direction of Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma, CA 95476.
