Jordan funeral pending
Funeral arrangement were pending Monday for Mrs. R. G. (Mary Reed) Jordan, a longtime home demonstration agent in Bexar County.
Mrs. Jordan died at Northeast Baptist Hospital late Sunday following a long illness. She was 78.
Her husband of 30 years, R. G. Jordan, was the farm and ranch editor for the San Antonio Express and News more than 20 years. He retired in 1966.
Mrs. Jordan retired in 1961 after working as the Bexar County home demonstration agent 17 years. She was also the home demonstration agent eight years in Uvalde before coming to San Antonio.
A native of Jewett, Mrs. Jordan's career included a stint as Leon County school superintendent.
She was active in the Altrusa Club, the American Home Economics Assn., the Texas Home Economics Assn. and the Texas State Teachers' Assn.
She received a home economics degree from Hardin-Simmons College.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Jordan is survived by a step-daughter, Leta Hunt of Denton; a step-[grand]son, Jeff Hunt of Denton; a sister, Mrs. F. M. Dashiell of Amarillo; two brothers, Tome Reed of Amarillo and Oscar Reed of Iredell; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Alamo Funeral Home.
