Mary Virginia Blackwell

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Virginia Blackwell, 42, of 902 South 9th St., Monroe, were at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of Monroe with the Rev. Edward Smith and the Rev. Jackie Hays officiating.

Burial was in Bethany Cemetery in Hebert. She died Monday at St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She had been a resident of Monroe for the past 25 years, a member of the Eastside Baptist Church and a retired beautician.

Survivors include her husband, John D. Blackwell of Monroe; one son, Steve Thomas Blackwell of Monroe; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Jean Ponder, Mrs. Phyllis Ann Martinez and Miss Barbie Rae Blackwell, all of Monroe; four brothers, Melvin Murphy and Earl Murphy, both of Hebert, Herman Murphy of Urania, and Leroy Murphy of McCloud, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Juanita Dunn of Monroe; and four granddaughters.

Pallbearers were Roger Murphy, Cliff Murphy, Charles Murphy, Herman Earl Murphy, James McLemore, and Carl McLemore.
