MATTHEW ARENDER

Forest, Miss. -- Funeral services for Matthew Arender, 81, of Route 1, Raleigh, were held Friday, 2 p.m., from the Beulah Baptist Church, Smith County, with the Revs. Leo Timms and Edd Onley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Ott and Lee Funeral Home in charge.

Arender died in his home on Wednesday following an apparent heart attack. He was a native of Smith County and had made his home near Polkville until about two months ago when he moved near Raleigh. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and a retired farmer.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Agnes May Arender; three daughters, Mrs. Cliff Miles and Mrs. Sidney Wallace, both of Morton; Mrs. Ruby Finch, Forest; two sons, Hershel and Ray Arender, both of Polkville; two step-daughters, Mrs. Dolace Randall, Raleigh; and Mrs. Lois Myers of Laurel; two step-sons, Henry Hester and Estus Herring, both of Raleigh; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Noma Easterling and Mrs. Pearly Phillips, both of Morton; and six brothers, Rauls, Arthur, Porter, James, and John Arender all of Morton; and Walter Arender of Brandon.

Pallbearers were the following grandsons, Jack Miles, O'Neal Miles, John Billy Traxler, Gene Arender, Billy Paul Earls, and Richard Finch.
