Mattie Thomason
CANTON - Mattie Lee Connor Thomason, 77, of 25 King St., passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at her home.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Dobbin Connor and the late Essie May Connor Earley. Mrs. Thomason had resided in Louisiana for 26 years before returning to Canton in 1971. She was a former employee of Piccadilly Cafeteria, a homemaker, and she will be remembered for her great love for her family and her hometown of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the late William Edward Thomason, who passed away in 2000, and a daughter, Patricia Ann Thomason and a son, James Edward Thomason.
Surviving are three daughters, Sue Ellen Woods and husband Ray of Candler, Jackie Carolyn Fontana and husband Tommy Joe of Shreveport, La., and Rhonda Thomason of Canton; a son, Tommy Thomason of Canton; two sisters, Helen Webb of Balsam and Mary Clontz of Canton; one brother, Billy Earley of Tennessee; eight grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Burial will be in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens, Clyde.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
