Mrs. Taylor
Funeral services for Mrs. Maude J. Taylor, 83, of Winnfield, were held at 2
p.m. Saturday in Southern Funeral Home Chapel here with the Rev. Calvin Phelps
and the Rev. Jerry LePerry (LaPrairie) officiating.
Burial was in Hurricane Grove Cemetery at Sikes for Mrs. Taylor who died
Thursday, February 9, 1978 in the local hospital after a lengthy illness.
A native of Sikes, Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Hurricane Grove Baptist
Church.
Survivors include one son, James Taylor of Texas City, Texas; three daughters,
Mrs. Mildred Mayes of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Earline Kelly of Sikes, and Mrs.
Billie Underwood of Winnfield; two brothers, Reggie Gates of Winnfield and C.
B. Gates of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Pepper of Baton Rouge and Mrs.
Marie Green of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
