Maude Irene Milstead
Maude Irene Milstead, 100, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in a local nursing home. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Highland Church of Christ with Mike Cope, Randy Becton, Jack McGlothlin, Bob Bailey, Joan Ferrell and Stanley Shipp officiating. Private graveside services will be directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Milstead was born in Ozro, TX Feb. 27, 1901. She worked for the Herald of Truth in a clerical position. She married Lonnie L. Milstead, Sr. in Dallas March 18, 1922. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Milstead was a member of Highland Church of Christ. After retirement, she was a volunteer at Herald of Truth, Christian Homes of Abilene and Caring Cancer Ministry.
Survivors include a son, Lonnie Milstead of Abilene; a daughter, Marie Shipp of San Antonio; a sister, Jeffie Veal of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, James R. Milstead; and a sister, Ola Graham.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 542 Hickory.
