Maudie Ford Lewis

SHREVEPORT - Services for Mrs. Maudie Ford Lewis, 79, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 2, 1988 at the Brookwood Baptist Church, where she was a member. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Gardner, pastor of Brookwood Baptist Church. Interment will be in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday at the Wellman Funeral Home.

Mrs. Maudie died Wednesday, November 30, 1988 at Willis-Knighton Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was a native of Converse, La and had been a resident of Shreveport since 1956. She was a retired school teacher having taught in Sabine Parish for 25 years and she taught in Caddo Parish Schools for 20 years. Mrs. Lewis was an Eastern Star of Fair Park Chapter #18 and a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.

She is survived by one son, David Lewis of Shreveport; three grandsons, Dr. David Ford Lewis, Jr. of Shreveport, Dalton Lynn Lewis of Crowley, Texas and David Rupert Lewis of Stonewall, La; one granddaughter, Davida Lewis of Shreveport; one brother, Joe Ford of Petersburg, Indiana; three sisters, Bessie Napier of Converse, La, Bettie Reimers of Waskom, Texas and Dovie Roberts of Arrey, New Mexico.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be all former students of Miss Maudie.
