Maurice Ishmael Irwin

Maurice Ishmael Irwin, 64, of Greenville, died of cancer Tuesday, January 21, 1997, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Mr. Irwin was born Nov. 30, 1932, in Montgomery County, to Hoyt Porter Irwin and Juanita Brooks Irwin. He attended school and graduated from Kilmichael High School. He moved to Greenville after serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Irwin worked in maintenance at USG Interiors for 39 years, retiring in 1995. He was a Methodist and a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Mortimer Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville with the Rev. David J. Willoughby officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Irwin was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Irwin, in 1989 and by his father, Hoyt Porter Irwin.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Juanita Brooks Irwin, of Kosciusko; Fiancee, Mavis Tedder of Greenville; two step-sons, Vernon Sinkey, Ronnie Sinkey, both of Greenville; one step-daughter, Marley Ann Williams of Greenville; one half-sister, Stella Staggs of Kosciusko; one niece, Carleen Hote of Vaiden; three nephews, Doug McElroy, David McElroy, Mark McElroy, all of Vaiden; and five step-grandchildren.

Mortimer Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.
